Erin Moroney - Creative & Founding Director of Axiom Photographic Agency
Immediately after graduating from university in 1995, Erin Moroney moved from Boston, MA to London. The following year she started running Axiom Photographic Agency. Erin was initially hired to represent the work of two photographers, but she quickly started to take on new work, creating the Axiom library. Erin single-handedly amassed and edited the archive, developed the brand and marketing strategy, and secured the client base. Over the past 15 years, Axiom has become one of the top travel reportage picture libraries in the country, supplying images to leading editorial, corporate, advertising, and design clients worldwide. Axiom also acts as a commissioning agency for commercial assignments.
For the last several years, Erin has been on the judging panel of Travel Photographer of the Year. Erin is also on the Advisory Board of the American chapter of YPA.

Sophie Batterbury - Picture Editor, Independent on Sunday
Sophie Batterbury is currently Picture Editor of The Independent on Sunday, where she is responsible for all sections apart from The New Review magazine. Her career in photojournalism began in The Independent darkroom in 1989, where a keen interest in photography became the passion that it is today. Since then she has had various roles across both Independent titles either side of a short stint at a celebrity agency. She is a contributing editor of ei8ht magazine.
Marni Brownlees - Senior Resource and Buying Manager, Dare Digital
Thirteen years ago Marni discovered a passion for all aspects of photography. Based in Wellington, New Zealand, she was commissioned to document events and shows, and worked on the production of advertising campaigns. An evolving interest in the advertising industry led her to relocate to London and has resulted in a career spanning a decade within the Creative Services departments of a number of high-profile agencies. In 2007 she took a year out to travel across South America by motorbike. Now back in London, Marni is Senior Resource and Buying Manager at the UK's Digital Agency of the Decade, Dare.
Simon Brauner-Cave - Director Spencer Cave and Arcaid
Simon is the founder of media strategy consultancy Spencer Cave. He has spent the last 20 years working for or advising creative media, entertainment and communication companies around the world on strategy, business development and M&A. His clients range from global media companies and investment banks to start-ups. Simon was previously an executive at Carlton Communications Plc (M&A), Reuters Plc (Business development) and Littlewoods Plc (Strategy), a senior consultant for ISI and MD of MOBO. Outside of his consulting work Simon is the MD of the Arcaid Images.
Alan Capel - Head of Content, Alamy
Alan Capel has worked in the picture industry for over 20 years. Whilst working as a freelance cartoonist he stumbled across the world of stock and, except for a brief sojourn trying to sell expensive photographic art on the internet (not recommended), has been here ever since.
Alan started as a picture researcher at Tony Stone Images and then ran the physical inventory (a true 'library' of images) in the days before digital. He was instrumental in the switch from analogue to digital, specifically he was instrumental in the development of the sophisticated keywording approach implemented by Getty Images.Alan joined Alamy shortly after its inception in 2000 and as Head of Content is responsible for Alamy's images and the recruitment and management of the contributors who provide them.
He is a regular speaker at Photographer events and undertakes talks to students opening their eyes to the possibilities and pitfalls that await them in 'the real world' He is a published photographer but much prefers drawing to taking pictures and has co-authored four cartoon books.
Chris Coe - Photographer and Founder, TPOTY (Travel Photographer of the Year)
Chris Coe is a professional photographer with nearly 20 year experience. His images are widely published internationally and he currently has over 40 books to his name. Chris undertakes commissions worldwide for publishers, charities and a range of companies from multi-nationals to small, dynamic businesses.
Chris's passion for photography is matched by his passion for sharing his knowledge to help others to improve their own photography. With fellow photographer, Nick Meers, he runs a series of photography courses and masterclasses under the Photo Iconic brand. He believes that photography is about creativity and learning to make better pictures should be both rewarding and fun.
In 2002 Chris launched the internationally renowned Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) awards, created as a showcase for travel-related photography and photographers. The awards have become an important annual international event in the photographic calendar and are recognised for bringing the work of talented photographers to public attention and for broadening the public perception of travel photography across genres as diverse as advertising and reportage.
Colin Jacobson - Picture Editor and Photojournalism Lecturer
Colin began his illustrious photographic career as a picture researcher with the Sunday Times Magazine in the early 70s. He went on to work as a picture editor for several national publications including The Economist, The Observer Magazine and The Independent Magazine. Leaving full-time journalism in 1995, he became a visiting lecturer and a senior research fellow at the Centre for Journalism Studies at Cardiff University.
Colin has been on the jury of the World Press Photo Contest four times, including twice as chairman. In conjunction with the British Council and Reuter Foundation, Colin has participated in photojournalism workshops worldwide. He was the founder and editor of Reportage, a quarterly magazine of international photojournalism, which subsequently went online as an internet publication.
In 2002, he edited the book, Underexposed, which highlighted aspects of censorship, propaganda and spin in photography. He has also curated exhibitions at the Guardian Newsroom, the Getty Gallery in London and the University of Westminster. In 2008, he edited the book, Beyond the Moment: Irish Photojournalism in Our Time. Colin is currently Senior Lecturer in Photojournalism at the University of Westminster in London.
Steve Macleod - Creative Director Metro Imaging
As Creative Director for Metro Imaging in London, Steve has been at the forefront of photographic imaging for nearly twenty years, collaborating with a vast network of clients, he was awarded with a fellowship of the RSA in 2004 for his commitment and services to his industry.
Internationally recognized as one of the most creative photographic printers of his generation, Steve also keeps himself busy by curating; commissioning and lecturing in Photography both in the UK and abroad. He is currently and Associate Professor at AUD in DUBAI; life member of Frontline Club and a Photovoice Ambassador.
Steve is also a practicing artist and is represented by Atlas Gallery in London.
Caroline Metcalfe - Photography Director, Condé Nast Traveller
Caroline is currently Director of Photography at Condé Nast Traveller magazine, the leading luxury lifestyle and travel magazine in the UK. Prior to her time at CNT Caroline had a career working in newspaper magazines starting at The Observer, then working on the launch and for nine further years at The Independent newspaper's Saturday magazine. She was also photographic editor of the Financial Times 'The Business' magazine. Aside from editorial journalism Caroline has also worked on advertising photography campaigns for JWT, Leo Burnett and McCann Erickson. She has also worked on freelance design projects for Vince Frost Design Group and Pentagram.
Caroline was actively involved with the World Press Photo organisation and is a member of their UK masterclass nomination committee. Caroline has also judged the John Kobal portrait awards, the AOP (Association of Photographers) annual photography competition, the AOP assistants awards and the Travel Photographer of the Year competition for the past 3 years. She is an enthusiastic supporter of new talent in photography.
Lisa Pritchard - Commercial Agent and Owner of LPA
Lisa Pritchard has been working with and advising photographers for more than two decades.
After graduating with a degree in Classics from UCL, London University, her first introduction into the photography industry was working for the photo library Image Bank. She went on to become a photographers agent and shoot producer for a diverse range of photographers over the next 10 years before setting up her own agency, Lisa Pritchard Agency (LPA), in 2001.
LPA has grown to become one of the countries leading photography agencies, representing both established and emerging commercial photography talent, stylists and hair and make-up artists and offering a full shoot production service.
Lisa has a special interest in educating young photographers in professional practice and is a frequent guest speaker at photography colleges, conferences and seminars. Also a regular contributor to the trade press, she has just written her first book Setting Up a Successful Photography Business (published by A&C Black).
Mary Robert - Photography Lecturer / Head of Department, Richmond University
Mary Robert is a photographer and an academic. Currently Professor of Lens Media and Chair of the Department of Arts & Sciences at Richmond the American International University in London, she has also taught for several years at the Royal College of Art. Mary has worked on many commercial and fine art projects in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas and has exhibited widely. She is particularly well known for her work with a wide range of international classical musicians.
Mary has devoted much of her career to developing photographic education programs and honing the skills and creative vision of young photographers and other artists who use photography as part of their practice.
Melissa Turner - Contributing Picture Editor, Fabulous Magazine
Melissa studied Photography at Westminster University and started her career on daily papers, moving onto The Sunday Times Magazine where she was Deputy Picture Editor for five years. After freelancing for various publications including Metro, The Week, The Telegraph Newspaper, Jack, Vogue GQ, She, she became Picture Editor at British Marie Claire. During her six years of picture editing at Marie Claire, Melissa worked with award-winning photographers and photojournalists worldwide.
For the last year, Melissa has been a Contributing Picture Editor at Fabulous Magazine, recently awarded The Press Awards' Supplement of the Year. She works on all areas of the magazine, from celebrity shoots, travel, lifestyle and reportage to real life features. She has recently commissioned features for charity organisations such as ASTI and Cancer Research.
John Wright - Award-winning Portrait/Celebrity Photographer
John Wright is one of the UK's leading fashion, portrait and advertising photographers. Winner of an unprecedented 7 awards in this year's Prix De Paris, Europe's largest photographic competition, and holder of the 2010 Magazine Cover of The Year award John is listed by Luerzer's Archive as one of the world's Top 200 Advertising Photographers.
John's career has been varied; from his first job as an assistant to Royal paparazzi to running his own photographic news agency and working as picture editor on three of the UK's leading national newspapers. Reportage, news, features, celebrity, fashion and advertising photography are just some of the areas he has worked.
Using digital techniques to create unique images, John is constantly exploring new methods in execution and post shoot manipulation to keep his photography as striking as possible. His work covers a diverse number of styles including cool visuals for the music industry, theatrically entertaining TV images, sophisticated fashion and probing editorial portraiture. His diversity is reflected in his client base which includes GQ, Marie Claire, Sony Music, Warner Music, Channel 4, the BBC as well as leading PR and advertising agencies. From his East London studio, John employs a full time production team who handle his marketing, production and syndication.
