Am I eligible?

Any photographer from age 18-29 can become a YPA Member. Unlike like most other association memberships, you DON'T need to be a student.

Why should I become a member?

The YPA Membership gives you access to our programmes and to our members' multi-media site and benefits.

  • Eligibility for the YPA Mentoring Programme, Folio Review, and YPA competitions.

    As a YPA member, you can apply to our programmes and competitions. There are no additional fees to take part in our programmes if you are selected to participate.*


  • Discounts from leading suppliers and organisations.**

    We have negotiated members' discounts with leading photographic suppliers, labs, and web solutions companies. YPA Members are eligible for discounts from Metro Imaging, Jacobs Digital Photo & Video, Plastic Sandwich and Photoshelter. Check the Members’ Area for any new additions!


  • Access to crucial industry standards information.

    Our Members’ Area provides you with vital info on IP & copyright, fees & quoting, stock libraries, releases, and galleries. We break these complex subjects down into FAQ, Tips, and From the Pros, giving you clear, fundamental information. We also provide templates for quoting for commission work as well as downloadable model & property releases.


  • Access to advice from the pros.

    We have advice from well-known photographers, editors, art buyers, gallery directors, and agents giving you tips on everything from getting started to assisting. Rankin, John Wright, Alex Proud, and the photographic directors of Vogue, GQ, and Condé Nast Traveller are just a few of the people sharing their insider advice. We also have videos with advice from leading photographers, giving you tips on everything from getting started, showing your work, gear, travelling, to assisting.

    Soon we’ll be launching our chat area where you can connect with other young photographers. We will host periodic live chats with leading photographers, picture editors/ buyers, and creatives.

How do I register?

There is a nominal £10 admin fee to become a member - a fraction of the price of other far less comprehensive association memberships. Registration takes just a couple of minutes and you can pay via PayPal.
